Mood Boards & Character Biographies

Mood board 1:

This mood board is what first came to my mind when I was mind-mapping my genre idea. I wanted to convey a cool-toned, quiet, and in-depth summer with multiple layers of emotions and thoughts, along with flashbacks and memories that are slowly fading away as time goes on. The palette for these shots will mainly consist of various shades of green, sage, and greyish blue. Sage green is often associated with nature, tranquility, and balance, representing growth and harmony, and is believed to promote a sense of calmness, relaxation, and renewal. Blue is associated with peaceful rest, profound insight, and spiritual realization. Overuse of blue can feel cold impersonal, and even unfriendly. Those are the spirits I want to bring into this specific aspect of my film opening.

Mood board 2:

This mood board is what I realized later on that could be added to this section to add depth to my opening. I will also be picturing a brighter, more lively, and warm summer, as a way to light up the opening and bring happiness to it. Throughout the opening, there will be shots of the two protagonists in their high school years, which will be filmed mainly during summer when the color yellow shines the most. According to Sensational Color, bright yellow is an attention-getter, and its contrast with black is the most visible color combination. It’s enthusiasm and enlightenment, and yellow is – in practical terms – the opposite of dark and dull.

Final mood board:

This mood board consists of the elements from both of the above. I feel like this one could portray the mood and tone that I want for my film opening.
